8b8afeefa3 refactor(input): own pointer and callback lifetime
Move camera pointer, framebuffer resize, and retained/devtools input edges behind focused reversible owners. Preserve input priority while making shutdown deactivate callbacks before live-session retirement and retry physical detach without stranding transport teardown.

d09e246d3a refactor(world): own live environment state
Move the DAT sky, selected day group, world clock, weather, AdminEnvirons bridge, and debug cycles into a one-shot WorldEnvironmentController while preserving GameWindow's public aliases and accepted startup/session/render order. Correct the named retail citations and register the remaining environment audio and fog/radar gaps.

b60cb67009 fix(streaming): block login on complete world reveal
Make initial login and portal arrival consume one WorldRevealReadinessBarrier that joins near-tier mesh publication, destination composite uploads, and collision residency before normal world geometry becomes visible. This ports retail SmartBox's blocking-cell completion edge into the asynchronous client instead of exposing a ground-only login.

f961d70023 feat(physics): port retail complete object frame pipeline
Restore the named-retail object update order across local, remote, static, projectile, animation, shadow, teleport, and effect lifetimes. Separate authoritative root commits from spatial rebucketing, preserve per-owner hook/FIFO ordering, and remove update-path allocations with exact lifecycle and residency gates.

Add deterministic conformance, adversarial lifetime, GUID-reuse, pending-cell, quaternion, timestamp, and allocation coverage. Release build is warning-free and all 6,446 tests pass with five intentional skips; retail, architecture, and adversarial reviews are clean.

7b7ffcd278 fix(gameplay): reconcile wield ownership and target facing
Preserve PlayerDescription inventory/equipment ownership across authoritative manifest replacement, make weapon switching and combat/UI consumers read the same canonical object state, and carry the complete outbound player position frame across landblocks.

Route target-facing and mouse-look through the shared MovementManager and MotionInterpreter completion owner. Match retail input aggregation, toggle ordering, turn/sidestep remapping, per-axis hold keys, and synchronous movement publication without render-only heading state.

Initialize the live streaming origin from the first accepted canonical player Position, defer other projections until that origin exists, and retain logical entity identity through hydration.

Advance the project ledger from completed M2 to active M3, synchronize CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md and durable memory, and record the next cast-lifecycle, spellbook/enchantment, and two-client portal gates.

9a772d2b2a docs: M1.5 "Indoor world feels right" LANDED 2026-07-10 — advance to M2
User-gated the full dungeon round-trip (enter via portal -> navigate rooms ->
exit to the outdoor world), completing the #138 acceptance. Both M1.5 demo
halves are now confirmed: building/cellar (prior sessions) + full dungeon
round-trip (2026-07-10). Milestone-crossing artifacts per the milestones-doc
discipline:

- Pinned M1.5 landing writeup + flipped header to LANDED; caveats explicit
  (#145-residual far-town teleport-OUT + #116 slide-response carried as
  post-M1.5 follow-ups, NOT blockers).
- Freeze list applied: all M1.5 phases (indoor render Option A, A6/A6.P4
physics, A7 lighting, full Phase G.3 dungeon support) now frozen per rule 2.
- M2 "Kill a drudge" flipped to ACTIVE; first ports = CombatMath.ComputeDamage
  (F.3) + inventory panel (F.2) + combat anim (L.1c).
- CLAUDE.md "currently working toward" advanced to M2.
- #138 closed (user gate).

No demo video (per the user's standing preference).

5e271dd719 docs: reconcile M1.5 tracking with git reality — G.3 dungeons SHIPPED, not "broken"
The milestones doc, roadmap, CLAUDE.md banner, and #138's ISSUES cross-ref had
drifted ~4 weeks behind shipped work — they still claimed "dungeons don't work
AT ALL / terrain-less landblocks unsupported (#133)", which sent this session
chasing a phantom door "regression" for an hour. Git reality (and tonight's live
dungeon session) refute it:

- #133 teleport-into-dungeon DONE (G.3a hold-until-hydrate FSM 7947d7a/2ce5e5c8/47ae237e);
the terrain-less premise was refuted at design time (90786c19: dungeon LandBlock
is flat-terrain, streams via the existing pipeline).
- #95 portal-graph visibility blowup RESOLVED (9.1M→~39k instances, a40c38e8).
- #137 dungeon collision CLOSED (0efa7ed2); doors #187/#188; A7 lighting #79/#93/#80/#154 CLOSED.
- #138 teleport-OUT ESSENTIALLY RESOLVED in code — the remaining M1.5 gap is one
RECORDED end-to-end round-trip user gate, not broken code.

Also fixes a numbering trap: #138's body cited "#146/#147" for its collision
residuals, but those numbers are D.2b inventory-polish issues in this worktree;
the real residuals are #152 (portal-in walls, DONE 49d743f) + #151 (far-town
walls, FIXED 9743537). Sole live residual now surfaced: far-town teleport-OUT
arrival cascade (#145-residual, REOPENED — capture-harness-first).

Historical working-notes annotated [SUPERSEDED] rather than deleted.

530453067a docs: reconcile the Current-state banner + milestones (M1.5 active; D.2b UI + R5 arc = interleaved parity tracks)
Discharges the 2026-06-22 banner-reconcile note: M1.5 stays the single
active milestone (remaining: A7 dungeon lighting, #137 dungeon collision,
#138 teleport-OUT). The D.2b retail-UI track and the R5 movement-manager
arc are recorded in the milestones doc as user-report-driven,
issue-level parity tracks subordinate to M1.5 — not milestones. Banner
rewritten within the 6-line budget; R5-V3/#170/#171 closes and the
R5-V4 pickup pointer included.

0b998db713 docs(#171): close the issue — user visual gate PASSED ("Looks good, ship it")

ad27d1395a docs(D.2b): container-switching handoff + flag stale M1.5 banner
Banks the next clean inventory win (container-switching: Use 0x0036 -> ViewContents
0x0196 full-replace + the selected-container indicator that retires AP-56) as a
handoff for a fresh session, per the late-session-handoff lesson. Wire layer
already exists; design sketch + open questions captured.

Also flags the CLAUDE.md "Current state" banner as stale — it still tracks M1.5
(indoor world, 2026-06-14) while the active stream has been the D.2b retail-UI
track for weeks. Left the milestone reframing for a fresh reconciliation against
the milestones doc rather than a tired guess.

d2b8a51426 docs: wrap-up — file #137 (dungeon collision) + #138 (teleport-out world loading); close #135/#136
- #137: dungeon collision wrong at doors / wall openings (EnvCell collision; needs repro).
- #138: teleport OUT of a dungeon loads the outdoor world incompletely (missing trees/
scenery, broken collision) + a position desync (avatar moves but player position doesn't)

a40c38e8bd milestone(G.3): dungeons RENDER — #95 was a Bug-A symptom, not an unbounded flood
Autonomous /loop verification: a live launch into the 0x0007 dungeon renders with a
sane budget (WB-DIAG instances ~39,000, meshMissing=0; was 9.1M pre-Bug-A), correct
membership (no ACE failed-transition spam), navigable. The chain: G.3a teleport
hold+place + Bug A (2ce5e5c, validated-claim landblock prefix) + login-into-dungeon
recenter (47ae237). A headless diagnostic (Issue95DungeonFloodDiagnosticTests, 95d9dab)
proved the portal flood is already bounded (1-17 cells vs the stab_list's 120-204), so
#95's "port grab_visible_cells stab_list bounding" was the WRONG fix and is NOT pursued.
ISSUES #95 -> RESOLVED, #133 -> renders + login-into-dungeon fixed; CLAUDE.md current
state + render digest updated. Remaining for M1.5: A7 dungeon torch/point-lighting.

9c2ceb2336 milestone: re-open M1.5 — dungeon support (full G.3) pulled into scope; M2 re-deferred
Correction to 1bf037a. The user reverted the M1.5 landing: the indoor
world isn't done while dungeons are completely broken. Attempting the
dungeon demo revealed it's not a single bug (#133) but a whole-feature
gap — terrain-less indoor-only dungeon landblocks aren't supported
anywhere in the streaming/load/render/physics pipeline:
- LandblockLoader.Load returns null when there's no LandBlock terrain
record (dungeons have none) -> the dungeon never loads.
- LandblockStreamer fails when the terrain mesh build returns null
  (dungeons have no terrain mesh).
- The teleport-arrival snap Resolves before the dungeon hydrates ->
places the player in the old Holtburg frame over ocean.

The user chose the FULL Phase G.3 scope (dungeon streaming + portal-space
loading screen + multi-landblock LOD + PlayerTeleport handling) and
pulled it into M1.5. M1.5 lands only when BOTH the building/cellar demo
(done) and the dungeon demo (enter via portal, navigate 3-5 rooms, walls
block, smooth transitions) pass. M2 (CombatMath) re-deferred.

Currently brainstorming the dungeon-support design (spec ->
docs/superpowers/specs/). Docs corrected: milestones (M1.5 ACTIVE +
extended, M2 DEFERRED, currently-working-toward -> M1.5), CLAUDE.md
current-state, ISSUES.md #133 (G.3 pulled into M1.5).

1bf037a1c9 milestone: M1.5 LANDED (building/cellar demo); dungeon demo -> #133/G.3; start M2
M1.5 "Indoor world feels right" lands on its primary building/cellar
demo, user-gated across the 2026-06 sessions: multi-floor inn navigation
without sling-out/wall-clip, cottage cellar descend+ascend without
falling through, walls block everywhere, smooth cell transitions. The
holistic Option-A render port (one DrawInside(viewer_cell), BR-2..BR-7 /
T1..T6) and the A6.P4 per-cell shadow physics shipped and were gated; the
doorway-flap family is closed (#119/#128, #112, #113, #124,
#129/#130/#131/#132, #108-residual, #127) and the #90/synthesis
workarounds removed.

The dungeon half is the one piece NOT landed: attempting the dungeon demo
(meeting-hall portal) surfaced issue #133 - teleport-into-a-dungeon snaps
the player BEFORE the dungeon landblock streams in (GameWindow.cs:4928
Resolve falls back to the resident Holtburg landblocks -> snaps to an
outdoor cell over ocean). That is Phase G.3 (dungeon streaming +
PlayerTeleport handling, M4), not a render bug (#95 died with the Option
A rewrite). Per the milestones doc's pre-flagged choice, the dungeon demo
is promoted to G.3 and M1.5 lands on the building/cellar demo (user
decision 2026-06-13).

Start M2 "Kill a drudge" - first port target CombatMath.ComputeDamage
(port-ready per the combat-math research memo; ACE oracle). Drudges spawn
outdoors for the demo, so M2 does not depend on #133/G.3.

Files: milestones doc (M1.5 -> LANDED, M2 -> ACTIVE, currently-working-
toward flipped), CLAUDE.md current-state -> M2, ISSUES.md #133 filed.

c007f5a962 CLAUDE.md: adopt the condensed structure, updated to current truth (-503/+176)
Reconciles the wip/main-local-claudemd-condensation distillation (made
~2026-06-03 by a parallel session) onto post-merge main:

- Current state section: ONE status block (<=5 lines + pointers, by
rule) + canonical reading order + the two digest entry points + the
divergence register; replaces status sediment scattered through
  Goal/Roadmap sections.
- Kept from the merged main (the condensation predated them): the
memory/digest rule in How to operate, the divergence-register
  section + phase-checklist item, de-dated milestone rules.
- Dropped: shipped-phase ship-notes, stale next-phase candidate lists,
  the superseded reference_render_pipeline_state pointer.
- Also salvaged from the wip branch: .gitignore entries (.obsidian/,
  claude-memory junction) + pdb_extract.py __main__ guard. The wip's
TextureDump edit predates main's args support (discarded) and its
physics-probe edits were STRIP-marked leftovers (discarded).

d0bd28543b docs(memory): distill CLAUDE.md render+physics banners into claude-memory digests
Collapse ~285 lines of dated render-flap + A6/#98/door/#100/#101 physics saga banners into two pointers to new claude-memory digests (project_render_pipeline_digest + project_physics_collision_digest), each carrying current-truth + a DO-NOT-RETRY table. Add an always-loaded memory pointer to the How-to-operate section: read the digests before domain work; update the digest, don't add new dated banners here. ~380 fewer lines in the always-loaded instruction file; no code change.

fe87e9794a docs(render): FLAP settled by live-retail measurement — full retail port DECIDED (Option A) + exhaustive handoff
Attached cdb to the live 2013 retail client at the Holtburg doorway + read the decomp.
The indoor flap is a STRUCTURAL divergence, settled by measurement (not inference):

- Retail has ONE render path: DrawInside(viewer_cell) every frame. NO inside/outside
branch (RenderNormalMode's outside branch is dead code; is_player_outside only gates
sky/lighting). "Entering a building" is not a render event — only the camera sweep
resolving a different viewer_cell. Same path before/after threshold -> no seam.
- Retail's eye JITTERS ~36um at rest yet membership is stable -> robustness is
STRUCTURAL: many small per-building floods (~7/frame, ~2 cells each, via terrain BSP
  -> DrawPortal -> ConstructView(CBldPortal)), not one giant knife-edge flood.
- Our 3 divergences: (D1) invented inside/outside branch (GameWindow.cs:7498,
  clipRoot = viewerRoot ?? _outdoorNode :7396); (D2) synthetic _outdoorNode; (D3) one
  unified flood.

DECISION (user-approved): Option A — rip out branch + outdoor node, root always at the
real viewer_cell, one DrawInside, per-building rendering. Phased, conformance-tested,
visual-gated.

REFUTED by measurement (do not retry): bounded-propagation/churn (maxPop=1, 0/63k
reciprocals empty); byte-stable eye (retail's jitters ~36um — rest-snap cd974b2 failed +
regressed, reverted 9b1857a).

Lands the canonical exhaustive handoff for a FRESH session
(docs/research/2026-06-08-full-retail-render-port-OPTION-A-handoff.md), the CLAUDE.md
READ-THIS-FIRST banner, and reusable cdb apparatus. No project code changed; working tree
at the known-good baseline.

9601ef39c3 docs: indoor flicker/void root cause (decomp + live cdb) + 3-part fix plan handoff
Diagnosis session: the indoor bluish void + grey/texture flicker is visibility metastability at cell boundaries, not a missing flood (R1's per-cell DrawInside is built; the cellar seals). Confirmed by named-retail decomp AND a live cdb capture of retail (viewer_cell rock-stable: clean monotonic transitions, zero oscillation across 4916 samples). Retail stays stable via boom stability + a 0.2mm viewer-cell dead-zone + clip-space portal clipping; acdream diverges on all three. Handoff documents the root cause, the cdb evidence, and the prioritized 3-part retail-faithful fix (boom stability -> dead-zone -> w-space clip) with decomp anchors + a planning/implementation kickoff prompt. Adds the reusable retail viewer-cell cdb capture script and the superseding CLAUDE.md banner.

02837ad5dc docs(A): wrap Render Residual A — handoff + roadmap for the core inside render
Residual A (camera collision = verbatim SmartBox::update_viewer) is SHIPPED +
user-kept (0ffc3f5/5177b54/9e70031). Wrap it and hand off to the render session:

- New canonical handoff (docs/research/2026-06-05-render-residual-a-shipped-core-
inside-render-handoff.md): what A shipped, what A EXPOSED (the render roots at the
  viewer cell — clipRoot=CameraCell, GameWindow.cs:7322 — and A made that cell
accurate, so the PVS flood from the viewer cell doesn't reach the player's cell →
cellar floor drops), the reframing (the user's "step C" = the CORE inside render /
  R1 completion, NOT R2 outside-looking-in), the evidence-first job, KEEP/DON'T, the
  kickoff prompt.
- CLAUDE.md banner: A SHIPPED; next = core inside render (R1 completion).
- Render redesign spec: 2026-06-05 sync note (A shipped; R1 is actually incomplete —
the bleed + cellar-floor drop are the unfinished flood/seal; next is R1, not R2).

The visible problems (bleed + the floor A exposed) are the same family: the inside
path still draws the whole outdoor world instead of retail's "inside → DrawInside
only". A faithful DrawInside seals them by construction (render spec 2026-06-02 §2).

2c7948a9f1 docs: handoff + kickoff for Render Residual A (camera collision verbatim port)
Session wrap: cellar-lip wedge fixed + visual-verified (cc4590f/9fdf6a5/41db027).
Next task per the plan = Render Residual A: keep the chase camera eye inside the
player's cell by porting retail SmartBox::update_viewer verbatim (fixes interior
walls going grey/transparent from inside).

- New canonical handoff with copy-paste fresh-session kickoff prompt, the retail
update_viewer decode, the V1 current-state map, the gap to pin (faithful
start-cell + AdjustPosition fallbacks + the no-wall-hit cause), and the
evidence-first plan ([flap-sweep] capture → deterministic SweepEye test → port).
- Key finding recorded: find_valid_position (pc:273890) just calls
find_transitional_position — the sweep function is faithful, NOT the divergence.
- CLAUDE.md banner updated to point at the new state + handoff.

82045805fd docs(p2): session wrap — P1 done, P2 (Path 5 step-up) localized; handoff + plan/CLAUDE.md update
P1 membership is DONE (proven to already match retail; the 0/11 was a cdb capture artifact;
merged + pushed). P2 root cause localized to BSP Path 5 grounded step-up: the Path 5 wrappers
(DoStepUp=retail step_up, DoStepDown=retail step_down) are verified faithful + reached; the
divergence is in the step-up CLIMB (find_walkable/step_sphere_down up-adjust when sp.StepUp=true).

- docs/research/2026-06-03-p2-door-stepup-handoff.md: canonical P2 pickup + fresh-session prompt +
DO-NOT-RETRY (the wrappers) + the tooling note (xunit swallows Console.WriteLine).
- master-plan §3: P1 marked DONE + the (a)-(d) deletes/unifications re-scoped to approval-gated
refactors of working code; P2 localization recorded.
- CLAUDE.md M1.5: dated 2026-06-03 pointer (P1 done, P2 active, render seam in P3/P4, pickup doc).

95b6874c12 docs(render): Phase U.4c — flap fixed + residuals handoff (checkpoint)
Canonical handoff (research note) for the U.4c flap fix + the three residuals the
visual gate revealed (#78 terrain-not-gated-inside, camera-collision need, U.5).
Records the full hypothesis journey (H1/H2 both evidence-disproven) so the next
session doesn't re-walk them. ISSUES.md: flap recorded in Recently-closed; #78
annotated (more visible post-fix). CLAUDE.md: U-phase orientation updated with the
flap-fixed status + the canonical handoff pointer + camera-collision-next.

75b1df9cc3 docs: abandon two-pipe render approach; scope Phase U (unified retail-faithful pipeline)
Decision (2026-05-30, with user): the WB-inherited two-pipe (inside/outside) render
split is the root cause of the indoor seam bugs (flap, missing/transparent walls,
terrain bleed) and cannot be seamless. Abandon A8/A8.F (#103); build ONE unified
pipeline driven by retail's PView portal visibility — seamless by construction. The
2026-05-30 camera-collision + physics viewer-cap work is kept (retail-faithful, but a
detour from the seam fix). New Phase U scoped; #103 superseded; CLAUDE.md / roadmap /
milestones updated; full decision + scope + next-session pickup prompt in
docs/research/2026-05-30-unified-render-pipeline-decision-and-handoff.md.

4cbfbf98af docs: #100 ship + indoor-cell culling investigation handoff
Session-end documentation for the issue #100 ship and the visibility-
culling investigation handoff for the next session.

Three documents land together:

  - docs/superpowers/plans/2026-05-25-issue-100-terrain-cutout.md
    (the 3-task plan that drove this session's f48c74a / a64e6f2 /
    84e3b72 — never committed by Tasks 1-2)

  - docs/research/2026-05-25-issue-100-terrain-cutout-handoff.md
(the predecessor session's smoking-gun research that drove the
#100 fix — never committed by the prior session)

  - docs/research/2026-05-25-issue-100-shipped-and-culling-handoff.md
(THIS session's handoff: what shipped, what visual-verification
surfaced, the issue family map for #78 + #95 + the new cellar-
stairs finding, root-cause hypothesis, retail anchors, WB
references, do-not-retry list, and pickup prompt for the next
    session's investigation + plan + implementation)

Plus two updates to existing files:

  - CLAUDE.md — adds a ship paragraph for #100 to the M1.5 progress
block. References the new handoff doc as the next-session pickup
    point.

  - docs/ISSUES.md #78 — broadens scope from "outdoor stabs visible
through floor" to "outdoor stabs + terrain mesh visible inside
EnvCells". Adds the 2026-05-25 cellar-stairs evidence (per user
direction: not filed as new issue; treated as evidence
reinforcing #78's hypothesis #2). Promotes hypothesis #2 to
"high confidence as of 2026-05-25" and adds the retail anchor
    (acclient_2013_pseudo_c.txt:311397 CEnvCell::find_visible_child_cell).
Acceptance criteria broadened to include the cellar-stairs case.

Next session: pickup prompt at the bottom of the new handoff doc
drives a /investigate → writing-plans → subagent-driven-development
pass on indoor-cell visibility culling — the work that closes #78
+ cellar-stairs together, and possibly #95 if the infrastructure
overlaps.

381561f5cf docs: #101 — A6.P8 ship + ISSUES.md update (Outcome A)
Records the A6.P8 mesh-aabb-fallback suppression ship outcome
in CLAUDE.md and moves issue #101 to Recently closed. Visual
verification confirmed end-to-end ramp climb on GfxObj 0x01000C16's
BSP (walkable inclined polygon, Normal.Z=0.717).

2dc4cfd3e6 docs(claude): A6.P4 door — pos_hits_sphere fix shipped status
Records what landed in 3253d84 + what still needs visual verification.
Notes that the swept-sphere framing in the handoff was wrong and the
fix is a one-line ordering matching retail's actual code.

bf6d97625c docs: A6.P3 #98 — new root-cause hypothesis (stale ramp contact plane)
Today's evening session ran from "harness still doesn't reproduce the
cap" → "harness reproduces it" → "wait, the cap is only a symptom, the
real cause is upstream Z drift from the contact plane never refreshing."

The breakthrough question, from the user: "we know how retail OPENs it
from above, how hard can it be to know how to open it from below?" —
which reframed the investigation away from cap-event mechanics (where
six prior attempts looked) and toward "what about our STATE is wrong
when the player is in the cellar but not on the ramp?"

The math: player at cap is 10 m away from the cellar ramp in cell-local
X, but body.ContactPlane is still the ramp's slope plane. AdjustOffset
projects forward motion along that stale slope every tick, lifting Z
by +0.201 m per tick. After enough ticks of horizontal walking, the
head sphere reaches Z=94 and bumps the cottage floor. If the contact
plane refreshed to the flat cellar floor when the player walked off
the ramp, the drift would be zero, the cap would never be reachable.

Next session's task (per the pickup prompt at the bottom of the
findings doc): (1) verify the hypothesis chronologically against the
live capture, (2) find the walkable-refresh gap in
Transition.FindEnvCollisions / SpherePath.SetWalkable, (3) cross-ref
retail's CObjCell::find_env_collisions for the per-tick contact-plane
refresh logic.
